Vertical Pacific, Inc. was founded in 2021 by Owner and Managing Principal, Katie Hanten. Katie is a Licensed Civil Engineer with a decade of experience providing Civil Engineering and Project Management services for clients across Northern California.

Katie holds a Bachelor's Degree in Physics from Pacific Lutheran University as well as a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Since founding Vertical Pacific she has completed the engineering design on dozens of impactful mixed-use, residential and commercial development projects across California with her strong background and land development and urban infill design & consulting.

In addition to Civil Engineering, Katie has a passion for real estate development and has experience managing ground-up industrial & multifamily development projects across California & Nevada. Early in her career, she worked for MGM Resorts as an Engineering Operations Project Manager, overseeing the renovation & construction of 1000+ hotel rooms and over a dozen retail spaces on the Las Vegas Strip which sparked her passion for design & construction. Since then she has overseen the design, permitting and construction of over 500,000 sq. ft. of residential, industrial, and commercial real estate. Katie currently serves as Housing Committee Chair for Urban Land Institute Sacramento’s district council.

Katie formed Vertical Pacific in order to focus her work on meaningful development projects that provide local residents with attainable housing options and mixed-use developments that revitalize neighborhoods. She is committed to working with industry partners and local creators that share that same vision.
